A Brooklyn man who was falsely accused of trying to run over an NYPD officer until video evidence exonerated him has settled his civil suit against the city for $180,000.
John Hockenjos, 59, was arrested in 2012 when Officer Diego Palacios claimed he had to dive out of the way as Hockenjos sped toward him during a dispute with a neighbor.
The Sheepshead Bay man retrieved footage from his home’s security camera that clearly showed him slowly driving toward the officer, who didn’t move a muscle as the car came to a halt.
The Brooklyn DA dropped the case and Palacios resigned after being charged with filing a false police report.
