A 36-year-old man was fatally shot in Lower Manhattan on Monday night, police said.

The man was struck once in the abdomen around 8:40 p.m. on the southeast corner of 3rd Street and Avenue C in the East Village, the NYPD said.

He was taken to Beth Israel hospital and pronounced dead.

Three men were seen fleeing, cops said. An investigation is ongoing.

Several locals called 911 to report the shooting, including one person who said the victim had been on a bicycle when he was struck, law enforcement sources said.

Neighbors reported hearing between six and 10 shots, according to the sources.
