A man was fatally shot in Brooklyn Monday afternoon, police said.

The victim, Gerald Wellington, 50, was standing in the driveway of his residence on East 96th Street near Church Avenue around 5:30 p.m., when an unknown individual shot him once in the face and twice in the chest before fleeing, cops said.

Wellington was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

It is unknown what prompted the shooting.
