A man fatally stabbed his mother’s tenant in front of her Wednesday, splattering a Brooklyn apartment — and his own mom — with the victim’s blood, police said.

Michael Dunne, 42, knifed Annemarie Vardy (inset), 52, at about 7 a.m. in the Bay Ridge Avenue apartment where she rented a room from his mother, Maria Maddalena, cops said.

Dunne dropped the weapon and surrendered when cops showed up, officials said.

His 19-year-old daughter, who also lived in the unit, was home with her grandmother at the time of the stabbing.

Photos show Maddalena, 63, being led away with gore splashed on her hands, feet and dress.

Neighbors reported hearing a fracas, and one young girl said the ground-floor apartment looked like a war zone.

“The apartment was open and everything was destroyed inside . . . it was messed up and blood was all over the place,” said Qirra Gillani, 12, who lives in the building and stumbled on the gruesome scene.

Neighbor Danielle Monk said, “I heard screaming this morning. It was a fight. Someone was talking very loud and then screaming and then nothing.”

Vardy had lived at the apartment near Ninth Avenue in Dyker Heights for the last three years, neighbors said. She previously stayed elsewhere in the building, but moved in with Maddalena after her father died and her mother was put into a nursing home, according to neighbors.

Dunne had recently moved out but still came by the apartment periodically, they said.

Vardy (inset) worked for the Department of Education, and Qirra said Vardy tutored her in math for several years.

“She was pretty nice, kind, and on my birthday she always gave me presents and I would give her presents on her birthday and Christmas,” the shaken girl said.

“I don’t know why someone would do that to her, because as long as I know she minds her business.”

The motive behind the stabbing is unknown, police said. Charges against Dunne were pending late Wednesday.
