A young man was found dead Thursday morning in back of a West Village apartment building, authorities said.

The unidentified man, who was in his 20s, was discovered in the back yard of the six-story building at 160 Waverly Place near Grove Street around 7:50 a.m., cops said.

The victim’s injuries are consistent with a fall, according to police.

A building neighbor said he initially thought the man simply had had one too many.

“There was a beer can next to him. We just thought he was drunk. That’s why we only called the ambulance,” the person said.
