A man was found dead Tuesday night in the Hudson River near 22 Battery Park, cops said.

At around 8:58 P.M. cops were called to the scene after witnesses saw a glimpse of a body bobbing in the water. A credible source on scene saw him go under, an FDNY spokesperson said.

“We went in there as a rescue not a recovery,” he said. After ten minutes in the water, FDNY’s rescue divers brought the unconscious victim out onto a marine boat.

He was taken to New York Downtown Hospital where he was pronounced DOA hours later. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification. The New York City Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
