An upstate New York man was discovered Sunday morning slumped next to a Central Park bench with a belt around his neck in an apparent suicide, police said.
The 22-year-old Middlesex man’s body was discovered by a dog-walker around 6:30 a.m. in Central Park near East 96th Street and Fifth Avenue.
Police said he was slouched over with a belt wrapped around his neck and tied to a bench. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no other obvious signs of trauma to the man’s body and no suicide note was found, police said.
It was not immediately clear why the man was in the area. The city Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
