A 64-year-old man was found dead with a plastic bag over his head and carpeting wrapped around his body inside his Bronx apartment building, police sources said.
Cops found the man unconscious and unresponsive inside the apartment on Arthur Avenue near Crescent Avenue in Belmont around 9:40 p.m. Monday after building residents alerted police to a foul odor, authorities said.
The upper part of the man’s body was wrapped in the carpeting, sources said.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene, cops said. His identity was not immediately released.
The medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death. The investigation was ongoing.
Building residents said the man was known to be “very ill” with HIV.
