BELLEVILLE, N.J. — Authorities in northern New Jersey are investigating the shooting death of a 67-year-old man whose body was found beside his car in a bank parking lot.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said Monday that the body of John Gasparinetti of Nutley was found outside a Valley National Bank branch in Belleville shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday.
Prosecutor’s spokesman Paul Loriquet said Gasparinetti had been shot once in the head.
Investigators believe he’d been robbed, but it’s unclear how much money was involved or what time the shooting took place.
Gasparinetti worked for a moving company in Parsippany.
