A 65-year-old man was engulfed in flames on a subway pulling into Times Square early Monday – and cops are no looking for the still-on-the-loose firebug who did it, according to sources.

Surveillance video captured the straphanger engulfed as he collapsed on the platform at the 42nd Street station just moments after he jumped off a northbound 3 train at about 3 a.m., according to the sources.

He suffered severe burns to his legs, with burnt skin found on one of the train seats, the sources said.

The victim, who appeared to be homeless, initially said he had been sleeping in the carriage when an unknown perp set him ablaze, according to the sources.

However, no suspects or witnesses were caught on camera fleeing the scene — and the victim repeatedly changed his story, according to police.

He later admitted to making up his initial story, with the investigation still trying to work out exactly what happened — and if he set himself on fire, the sources said. Burnt paper was also found on the train.

The victim was taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center with “significant” burn injuries, police said.

Police said they are still probing the incident and that no arrests had been made.
