A man was struck and nearly killed this morning after being hit by an oncoming Long Island Rail Road train in Suffolk County, an MTA spokesperson said.

The man, who was struck by a westbound train from Ronkonkoma just east of the Central Islip Station at 9:20 a.m., was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore Long Island, authorities said.

The train, scheduled to arrive at Penn Station at 10:32 a.m., was delayed by more than an hour. Service between Ronkonkoma and the Central Islip Station resumed at 10:24 a.m., an MTA spokesperson said.

MTA police are investigating the incident.
