A man was shot in the chest when an argument broke out near a playground in Chinatown on Tuesday morning, cops said.
The violence erupted as a woman and her male friend walking near Henry Street and Market Street got into a dispute with two men just before 9:30 a.m., cops said.
One of the two punched the woman in the face during the fight, according to police.

The victim is in stable condition at Bellevue. William FarringtonHer friend then pulled a gun and shot the other of the two, hitting him in the chest, about 20 yards from the Sophie Irene Loeb Playground, police said.
Cops collared the gunman and recovered the firearm, according to a witness.
Sherman Walker, a local security guard, said police were already close by — clearing a homeless encampment under the Manhattan Bridge — when the gunfire erupted.
Walker said he ran outside after the shot was fired to find that cops had the gunman in cuffs.

Charges are pending against the suspect, police said. William Farrington“A cop was applying pressure to the victim’s chest for about 10 minutes before the EMTs showed up and took over,” he said.
It was unclear what sparked the violence.
The victim was brought to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
