A 24-year-old man who was hit by an SUV while trying to get the phone number of a woman he saw on a Chelsea street is in a coma and may never remember what happened, his stepmother told The Post on Sunday.
Although Khorey Rice is expected to survive, Shaleen Butler said his doctors at Bellevue Hospital put him in a medically induced coma as his brain heals and warn he may have trouble with his memory.
“They said he’ll be there [in the ICU] for at least four weeks and that when he wakes up he might not remember anything,” she said.
“He’s got stitches in the back of his head like a ‘V,’ like this,” she said, tracing the shape of the letter with her finger along the back of her head.
Sources said Rice was struck early Saturday after he’d just finished chatting with a woman he had met on West 18th Street near 10th Avenue.
Cops say the driver who hit him had a suspended license and was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
It’s unclear if Rice was able to get the woman’s phone digits before he was struck.
