A driver accused of fatally injuring a woman on Staten Island and then leaving the scene of the accident has been indicted on manslaughter charges.
Estik David Lozano faces second-degree manslaughter and vehicular-manslaughter charges.
Brunilda Maldonado was hit last July while leaning under the hood of her disabled car.
Police said Lozano had a blood alcohol level that was twice the legal threshold when he was arrested more than four hours later.
Defense lawyer Patrick V. Parrota says the victim stopped her car in the middle of a dark and busy road, despite evidence that she could have pulled over.
