A man set himself on fire at a Long Island gas station Thursday night, suffering burns to 90 percent of his body, officials said.

The unidentified man walked up to a pump at a Sunoco station on Long Beach Road in Oceanside around 11 p.m. and doused himself in fuel.

“The guy … put in a credit card and dumped gas over himself and lit himself on fire,” Oceanside Fire Department Chief John Madden said.

The flaming man ran from the Sunoco and into the adjacent four-lane thoroughfare. Several motorists witnessed the horror and pulled over to help.

One of them doused the flames with a fire extinguisher. Others used bottles of water.

Paramedics took the victim to Nassau County Medical Center in critical condition.

Nassau County Police are still investigation the incident.
