A man died after leaping from the middle of the George Washington Bridge at about 10:30 a.m. today, authorities said.
The man – who was white and appeared to be in his 60s – was pulled from the Hudson River by the Coast Guard, brought to the 79th Street Boat Basin and strapped into a stretcher to be wheeled across the wooden pier. Emergency workers attempted CPR, but the man was unresponsive.
The man was then loaded into an ambulance and taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in cardiac arrest. He wore a wedding band on the ring finger of his left hand. The medical examiner will determine cause of death.
