A man was killed when a fire broke out at an upper Manhattan apartment building, fire officials said.
The blaze started in the basement of a building on West 184th Street near Wadsworth Avenue around 8:50 a.m.
Firefighters showed up and had the fire under control a short time later, officials said.
The man, who was described as being approximately 60-years-old, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe he may have been a squatter, sources said.
The man’s identity was not released.
