A man was killed in a raging fire that tore through a Long Island home Tuesday night, authorities said.

The blaze erupted inside the Medford residence on Oregon Avenue around 10:30 p.m., the Suffolk County Police Department said.

The flames quickly took over the four-bedroom home, causing part of it to collapse.

First responders found the victim, believed to be a resident of the home, inside after firefighters extinguished the blaze, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s identity has not yet been released, pending family notification.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries battling the inferno and were taken to Long Island Community Hospital for treatment, authorities said.

Meanwhile, Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating the blaze.

Neighbor Gayle Vocht, 74, said she woke up shortly after the inferno began and saw that “the fire was going strong.”

“This is awful,” said Vocht, who described the victim, a father of two, as “a nice Irish man.”

“He loved commiserating with the deer,” Vocht said.

Vocht’s daughter, Amanda Warren, 33, who lives with her mother, noted that the victim was a cigarette smoker.

Warren added: “He was like a brother to us. He would take his shirt off his back for you.”
