A man died while walking in between subway cars on a No. 2 train traveling through Manhattan on Wednesday night, authorities said.
The unidentified 25-year-old was walking between the cars of the train as it passed through the 23rd Street station at about 10:40 p.m, according to police.
He then somehow fell off the car and down to the rails, where he was crushed by the train.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to the morgue, police said.
The NYPD is investigating the death, but criminality was not suspected, a police source said.
Walking between train cars is prohibited by the MTA and considered unsafe riding, authorities said.
