A man jumped to his death from the roof of his Chinatown apartment building Thursday morning, police and witnesses said.
Authorities responded to 36 Monroe Street around 10:10 a.m. and discovered the man, believed to in his late 20s, lying in the rear courtyard.
He was pronounced dead on scene, the FDNY said.
Residents of the housing complex were distraught over their neighbor’s fatal plunge.
“I just see the body under a sheet lying right there in front of the stairs as I come out,” said one resident.
“It’s said, so sad for a person to do that.”
