A man pepper-sprayed and shoved a stranger into a storefront gate during an apparently random attack in Brooklyn, surveillance footage released Friday by police shows.

The 33-year-old victim was standing in front of a butcher shop on 16th Avenue near 51st Street in Borough Park around 9:30 a.m. Monday when the attacker suddenly approaches him from behind, cops said.

The attacker sprays the victim with pepper spray and then pushes him into the gate, the footage shows.

A good Samaritan tried to intervene, but the attacker pulled out an expandable baton and swung it at him before fleeing in a white SUV, police said.

The victim was taken to Maimonides Hospital, treated for cuts to his face and released, cops said.

It was unclear what prompted the attack, cops said.
