A man plotting to detonate explosives in Times Square was busted by federal authorities in a sting operation, a report said Thursday.

The suspect, who was not identified, was trying to get his hands on explosives to use in Times Square, CBS 2 reported Friday morning.

Police and FBI agents got wind of it and set up the sting to catch him when he went to go buy the weapons and he was taken into custody by the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

The suspect appeared to be acting alone and not part of a larger threat, according to the report.

The suspect is set to appear in federal court in Brooklyn on Friday.
