A man fired a gunshot into the ground about four blocks from Brooklyn criminal court Monday and then bolted — leaving behind one of his shoes, police and witnesses said.
The shooter lost his white Nike tennis shoe on Willoughby and Pearl streets after getting into a shouting match with another man and squeezing the trigger around 3:40 p.m., the sources said.
“Two guys were here, they were yelling. And one guy was shooting the floor, and then he ran,” said a witness who had just bought a coffee at the nearby Good Luck Newstand & Lotto.
“He shot it one time. Nobody was hurt. He left his [shoe] there,” said the witness, who gave only the name Shopnil.
The sound of the gunshot sparked a mad dash for cover.
“Everybody ran. I ran, too. Everyone was scared. I’ve never seen a shooting before,” he said
The shooter appeared to be in his 20s.
