A livery driver agreed to ferry a group of revelers to and from a Queens strip club for a birthday party early Friday — but wound up getting shot in the head with a bullet intended for one of his passengers, sources said.
Cabby Robert Castillo, 37, was fighting for his life Friday night following the 5 a.m. violence outside Club Purlieu in Astoria.
“He was just out there making a living, and he wasn’t even a target. He was just an innocent victim. His girlfriend is in a state of shock,” said Fernando Mateo, a spokesman for the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers, who visited Castillo at Elmhurst Hospital.
The driver brought four passengers — two men and two women — from The Bronx to Club Purlieu for a birthday celebration at about 1 a.m., sources said. He agreed to wait around and then bring them home.

They made it into Castillo’s Ford Explorer, but before he could drive off, a man came out of the club and fired a shot, striking the cabby on the left side of the head, police sources said.
With blood gushing from his head, Castillo hit the gas in a panic and crashed into several cars parked a few blocks away at the intersection of 35th Street and 37th Avenue, sources said.
Castillo, who did not appear to be the intended target, was rushed in critical condition to Elmhurst Hospital, where he remained hooked up to a respirator, sources said.
“He had a bullet extricated from his head this morning, and his brain is swollen,” Mateo said.
The shooter was still at large, and the investigation is ongoing, investigators said.
It remained unclear if Castillo’s four passengers were involved in the altercation in the strip club.
Police took the four passengers to the 114th Precinct station house for questioning, but no arrests have been made, sources said.
Castillo is not licensed by the Taxi and Limousine Commission.
Club Purlieu bills itself on its Web site as “the most trend-setting lounge in Queens, New York, with more than 100 exclusive entertainers handpicked and selected.”
Four people were slashed at the club in March 2015 when fists and bottles started flying at about 3 a.m. during a performance by Texas-based rapper Chedda Da Connect.
R&B artist Trey Songz made an appearance at the club Thursday night to promote a liquor line called SX Liquors.
The club has hosted a slew of other celebrities, including Fabolous, Nas and Dara Bubamara.
