A man was slashed across the face inside a Manhattan subway station Wednesday morning, cops said.

The victim was attacked around 8:30 a.m. on the L train platform at the 14th Street and 1st Avenue station, authorities said.

“It was an older man. His face was slashed,” an MTA employee told the Post. “It was bad. It was very deep. The string from [his] mask was inside of [the slash wound]. He was bleeding profusely.”

“He came up and said, ‘Call the police. I have been slashed,'” the worker said. “He was in a state of shock.”

The employee — who called 911 — reported feeling “traumatized” after seeing the injured man.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment, police said. The suspect took off on foot.

Cops could not immediately say what provoked the slashing.

Video from the scene shows blood splattered on the platform, shortly after the slashing.

Joshua Best, 22, who lives in Manhattan and takes the L a lot for work, called the incident “just crazy” and “sad.”

“[The victim] probably was just starting their day,” Best said. “They didn’t even get to enjoy their day.”

“I am more worried now,” he added. “I look around to make sure, you know, everything is OK — nobody is too close to me. I’m more guarded.”

The incident follows several recent attacks in transit — the most recent on Tuesday afternoon, when a 26-year-old man was randomly shoved onto the subway tracks at the Fulton Street/Broadway–Nassau station.

The alleged attacker in that case, Calvin Wilson, 38, was quickly arrested after he fled to the street, Shea said in a NY1 interview Wednesday morning.

Shea said the NYPD has “encountered” Wilson multiple times, taking him to the hospital as an emotionally disturbed person and bringing him to a shelter.
