A straphanger was slashed in the face during an apparent random attack in a Manhattan subway station, cops said Friday.

The 51-year-old victim was on the mezzanine level of the 110th Street No. 6 train station in East Harlem around 5:10 p.m. Monday when another man suddenly slashed him in the face with a sharp object, authorities said.

The reason for the attack was unclear, though cops say the victim may have made eye contact or bumped into the suspect, which angered the attacker.

The victim was taken in stable condition to Harlem Hospital with a severe laceration on his face.

The suspect is shown in surveillance images wearing a blue winter hat and black jacket over a gray and white shirt.
