An apparently homeless man was stabbed to death inside a Queens subway station early Friday, cops said.

The unidentified victim was knifed around 6:15 a.m. on the southbound platform of the Grand Avenue/Newtown M and R station in Elmhurst, police said.

He was taken to the Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The motive for the attack remained unclear later in the morning. The suspect fled, and cops did not immediately have a description.

Subway crime rates dropped in March compared to the previous month — but remain far higher than where they stood before the COVID-19 pandemic, according to newly released NYPD stats.
