A 51-year-old straphanger was stabbed in the chest by a stranger after offering to help pay for his fare at the bustling Times Square subway station, law enforcement sources said Sunday.
The attack unfolded just after 8 p.m. in the Times Square–42nd Street station at West 40th Street and Seventh Avenue, according to the NYPD.
Sources said the victim was leaving the station when he offered to pay for the suspect — who then randomly stabbed him.
