Police are looking for a suspect who hurled a Molotov cocktail at a police vehicle in Staten Island, authorities said.
Two cops who happened to be on patrol in St. George witnessed a man holding something that appeared to be on fire near the corner of Jersey Street and Benzinger Avenue around 2:50 a.m.
They then watched as the suspect chucked the device in the direction of a large NYPD vehicle, about the size of an RV.
The Molotov cocktail missed its target and landed just in front of the vehicle. It failed to ignite, officials said.
The cops tried to chase after the man but he got away. He was last seen running down York Avenue toward Brighton Avenue.
No one was injured.
