A jealous husband who hacked up his wife with a meat cleaver on a busy Chinatown sidewalk was sentenced Wednesday to 13 years in prison.
Ming Guang Huang, 32, previously pleaded guilty to first-degree assault in Manhattan Supreme Court as part of a plea deal for the brutal 2013 attack on then-23-year-old Jinyia You, officials said.
The couple had been arguing on Canal Street when Huang whipped out a meat cleaver and repeatedly hacked at her body, face and head, lacerating her brain, according to a statement from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Nearby firefighters broke up the brutal assault and restrained the crazed husband.
Doctors had to remove half of You’s skull, and she endured a lengthy hospital stay, authorities said.
After Huang’s arrest, he intimated to cops that his wife had been unfaithful and had only married him for citizenship.
