The man who kept a cache of World War II-era weapons in his Brooklyn home has been busted for weapons and drug possession, cops said.
Riccardo Rodriguez, 39, who lives in the home on Avenue Z in Gravesend, was hit with 13 weapons-related charges, one unlawful fireworks possession charge, two drug possession charges and a violation of local law misdemeanor charge in connection with the Wednesday discovery, police said.
Acting on a tip, police executed a search warrant at the 900-square-foot detached home and found the decades-old firearms, fireworks and an object that resembled a grenade on Wednesday, police said.
The discovery of the grenade-like device at 7:10 a.m. prompted authorities to bring in the NYPD’s Bomb Squad Unit to investigate, according to sources. The department’s Emergency Services Unit also responded.
The items found were deemed safe just after 9 a.m., authorities said.
Marijuana, as well as other unspecified drugs, were found in the home, police said.
