A Manhattan dog sitter has allegedly become a canine kidnapper, according to a lawsuit.
Laurel Chor claims she asked a pal to watch her rescue pup, a mixed breed named Digby, while she went to London for a graduate program — but the friend won’t return the animal.
Chor says Oliver Dixwell Chase keeps Digby in a small Chelsea apartment — which he shares with his girlfriend and a massive Rhodesian Ridgeback — and that he was always supposed to return the dog to her, according to the Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit she filed against him.
Digby, who had been found in a drainage ditch before being adopted by Chor, “has a special attachment” to her, she contends in legal papers, noting she’s bought a large fenced-in property in which to live with the dog and has paid all its expenses.
Chase did not respond to messages. A lawyer for Chor, who said in the lawsuit that COVID-19 travel restrictions and quarantine rules prevented her from getting her dog earlier, declined to comment.
