A maniac barged into a lower Manhattan courthouse and slashed two officers in the neck and face in a shocking, apparently “targeted” attack that was caught on camera Monday morning, law enforcement officials and sources said.

Jonathan Wohl, 37, of Queens, stormed into the lobby of Manhattan Criminal Court at 100 Centre St. around 9:30 a.m. and suddenly ambushed the officers with a knife, the sources said.

Harrowing security footage of the attack that was obtained by The Post shows Wohl first calmly entering the courthouse and approaching the metal detector before charging at a court officer.

The maniac then pivots and pounces on a second officer, stabbing him repeatedly and slashing his neck and face before a slew of other officers poured into the lobby and tackled the knifeman against a barrier near the entrance to the courthouse.

The group of officers pinned Wohl to the ground and carried him out of the courthouse, handcuffed with his feet up in the air.

The injured officers were hospitalized in stable condition, the sources said. One was wheeled out of the courthouse while hiding his face in his hands.

Charges are pending against the alleged attacker — but officials believe that it was “targeted.”

“The assaults, captured on surveillance video, appeared preliminarily to be a targeted attack of the uniformed officers working security details at the courthouse,” an OCA spokesman said in a statement.

Officials are still investigating a motive.

Wohl did not have a scheduled hearing the day of the assault, law enforcement sources said.

The crazed attacker has been a regular nuisance at the courthouse, a police source said.

“He’s always harassing the court officers,” the source told The Post. “He said he wanted to kill them.”

A court officer said Wohl is known to come “to the building and cause trouble, agitate court officers, but nothing like this.”

A source familiar with Wohl’s past antics described him as a well-known “problem child.”

Wohl has been arrested 18 times in the past, primarily for alleged drug offenses, but only three criminal cases remain open, according to the sources.

In his most recent unsealed case from February 2023, Wohl was arrested and charged with criminal contempt in Manhattan for allegedly violating an order of protection, according to the NYPD.

Wohl was also busted in September 2011 and August 2012 for allegedly selling drugs to undercover cops, authorities said.

The appalling attack comes as New York State Supreme Court Officers Association revealed that staffing at the city’s courthouses has plummeted to “bleak” levels — potentially endangering judges, jurors and even the public.

The union said that nearly 35% of posts are vacant in the city as applications continue to plunge, with only about 28,000 applicants in the most recent exam —a drop of 70% from a decade ago.

“Within just a couple of days of launching a widespread advocacy campaign making the public aware of the severe safety deficiencies in our courts, OCA was in Brooklyn draining more personnel resources, while in Manhattan Criminal Court, two Court Officers were stabbed with one officer sustaining serious wounds to his face and neck,” union president Patrick Cullen, a sergeant with 25 years under his belt at Bronx Supreme Criminal Court, said in a Monday statement.

“What will it take for court leaders to take the appropriate action to secure these facilities?” Cullen added. “Our members aren’t safe and neither is the public. The time to act is now!”
