Mayor Michael Bloomberg says New York City is “on the ready” as the winter storm approaches.

The National Weather Service expects it to start snowing on Friday night and continue Saturday.

Predictions vary depending on the location. The weather service says Staten Island could get up to 9 inches.

Bloomberg said on his weekly radio show that the salt spreaders and plows are positioned to go.

It’s part of a powerful winter storm that’s bearing down on the Mid-Atlantic region.
