Mayor’s imam ‘oops’
Mayor Bloomberg expressed regret yesterday over having a controversial imam — an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing — at a City Hall meeting of Muslim leaders Wednesday night.
“Well, if I had recognized his background, I probably wouldn’t have invited him,” Bloomberg said.
Siraj Wahhaj, who leads a Brooklyn mosque, was never charged in the bombing and maintains his innocence.
