All that’s missing are the velvet ropes and red carpet.
A problem-plagued McDonald’s in Greenwich Village is getting a security face-lift normally found at the chic nightclubs in nearby Chelsea.
Franchise owner Carmen Paulino will hire off-duty NYPD police officers — armed and in uniform — to act as bouncers for the troubled West Third Street eatery, The Post has learned.
The development came a day after Paulino held a closed-door meeting with Deputy Inspector Brandon del Pozo, head of the Sixth Precinct, and reps from City Council Speaker Christine Quinn’s office to discuss safety concerns stemming from a St. Patrick’s Day donnybrook outside the joint.
“The owner will immediately take steps towards hiring the paid security detail — one of the recommendations the speaker called for,” revealed a Quinn insider.
Paulino said in a statement that she has “already reached out to the paid detail unit to explore options.”
Other ideas floated during the secret sit-down were allowing police to access the eatery’s surveillance cameras via the Internet and cordoning off seating at a certain hour to prevent customers from lingering, del Pozo told concerned residents at a community precinct meeting Wednesday night.
