A Brooklyn food merchant has been operating for months without federal approval after inspectors repeatedly found the potentially deadly bacteria listeria at its Bay Ridge facility, the US Department of Agriculture said last week.

The USDA suspended NY Gourmet Salad in March, but the business has continued to produce and distribute meat and poultry products to supermarkets with a false “mark of inspection,” the feds charged last week in Brooklyn federal court.
