State health officials announced yesterday a $129 million project to digitize as many as 20 million patient medical records.

Called the New York eHealth Collaborative, the public-private partnership will allow doctors anywhere in the state instant access to the medical records of almost every patient, which health officials say will save vital time and eliminate confusion. The project is expected to be fully operational by 2014.
