Holy smokes! Columbia University investigators are studying whether nicotine can be used as a temporary pain reliever.

Researchers have given small doses of nicotine nasal spray to patients with chronic back pain and post-surgery swelling. Others are studying whether it can help stabilize people with dementia, ADHD, schizophrenia and Parkinson’s disease.
