There’s a new reason to hoof it to the Staten Island Zoo: an adorable lamb, born Friday, and a whole crop of other baby animals on display.

The zoo is showing off the tiny Shetland sheep Baalthazar — aptly nicknamed Baa — this spring along with newborn lemurs, geckos and antelope.

“Our first baby lamb was born,” said assistant manager Rebecca Orens. “He has black panda eyes, black mouth and black-tip ears just like his father, Alex, who is the breeding ram.”

And more of the cuddly critters are on the way, according to Orens.

“Sheep are incredible breeders and we are expecting two to four more babies, since we currently have two pregnant sheep,” she said.

The zoo loves ewe — but it’s also showcasing other less traditionally cute babies. These include two 1-month-old ring-tailed lemurs named Jyn and Han, two yet-to-be-named week-old Madagascar day geckos, and a 1-month-old horned oryx, which is a species of antelope, named Beau.

“Beau’s a very, very bouncy baby and loves to run around,” said zookeeper Nikki Taieb. “We’re happy to have another boy.”

Also on site are newborn rattlesnakes, milk frogs and crocodile lizards, which are used for breeding and not featured on display.
