A memorial service will be held in June for Peter Michelmore, a former metropolitan editor of The Post, who died of cancer on Feb. 13 at his home in Palisades, NY. He was 79.

Michelmore, born in Adelaide, Australia, began his career at The (Adelaide) News in 1950, and came to New York in 1955 as a correspondent for the Sydney Morning Herald. He was metropolitan editor of the New York Post from 1977 to 1980.

Michelmore, the author of six books, is survived by his widow, Nanette; sons, Nicholas and Jayson; daughter, Tracy; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill.
