A group of sticky-fingered thieves snagged $4,000 worth of honey and rolling papers from a wholesale distributor in Brooklyn, police said Wednesday.
At least four men walked into AAA Wholesale Cash and Carry on Malta Street near Wortman Avenue in Starrett City around 5:30 p.m. and started filling boxes with packets of Malaysian Golden Royal Honey and RAW papers from on the shelves in the warehouse, police said.
“We thought they were customers at first,” said a 47-year-old a manager, who asked that his name be withheld. “Then they were just taking everything from the shelf and throwing them in boxes.”
The men filled the boxes with as many items as they could and quickly ran out the door –– and one of them managed to bite the manager in the arm and neck when he chased after one of the suspects, he said.
“We think one of them was our customer,” the manager said –– adding that two of the suspects dropped their phones when they tried to make a run for it.”Two guys dropped their phones and we got to know who they are. We checked their pictures.”
He said he handed the phones over to the NYPD.
