The Metro-North masses have spoken — and they want silence.
The “quiet-car” pilot program is going permanent, following an overwhelmingly positive response from riders, officials said yesterday.
Starting April 2, the last cars of rush-hour trains into Manhattan will be designated “quiet.”
At the same time, peak-hour outbound trains’ first cars will be marked “quiet.”
Riders agree not to yak or use noisy gadgets. Anyone breaking the rules will get a “shh!” card from the conductor.
“With very few exceptions, people have quickly adapted to the new etiquette,” said Metro-North President Howard Permut.
