A Metro North track worker was struck and killed by a train this morning in West Haven, authorities said.

The employee, 52, was working near the West Haven train station, which is under construction, about 11:55 a.m. by a train heading to Grand Central from New Haven, according to a Metro North spokeswoman.

The three tracks at the station are blocked, and buses are being used to take riders between Milford and New Haven.

The death comes in the wake of a Metro North derailment in Bridgeport, which injured more than 70 people on May 17.
