Michelle Troconis — the former girlfriend of late accused Connecticut wife-killer Fotis Dulos — pleaded not guilty Friday to conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the disappearance of Dulos’ wife, Jennifer.
The 44-year-old businesswoman, whose first language is Spanish, wore translation headphones as she entered the plea in Stamford criminal court, according to www.wtnh.com.
Her new lawyer, Jon Schoenhorn, asked Judge Gary White to relax her house arrest and requested that she be able to remove a GPS ankle monitor that was bruising her leg, according to the outlet.
“Michelle is innocent on these charges, and we plan to fight them,” Schoenhorn said as he left the courthouse.
Troconis is accused of helping Dulos dispose of items and clean up an allegedly bloody pickup truck that police say was used the day his estranged wife went missing.
At the hearing Friday, prosecutors demanded Troconis turn over her passports, including an expired Venezuelan passport, to ensure she would not be a flight risk.
Troconis, whose family appeared with her in court, will be allowed to run errands like grocery shopping with permission from parole authorities, White said.
Last month, Dulos killed himself by carbon monoxide poisoning.
Troconis, 44, will appear in court again March 20.
