An escaped parolee who was convicted for his role in a burglary that led to the killing a retired city transit cop in 1990 surrendered to cops in Middletown today after a long standoff.
Cops picked up Donald Carrington last night for an open container violation and as part of an investigation into stolen property, according to the Middletown Times Hearld-Record. But he somehow escaped and was holed up in a Middletown house.
He walked out this afternoon with his hands in the air.
Middletown is located about 75 miles northwest of Manhattan.
Carrington was sentenced to 8 1/3 to 25 years behind bars in 1991 for his role in a robbery the previous year that left Alex Bodnar, a retired New York City transit cop, dead from multiple stab wounds.
