The 9/11 memorial and museum should be overseen by the foundation that helped fund both projects, to keep the site out of the “political process,” Mayor Bloomberg said yesterday.

Construction of the museum came to a halt nine months ago in a dispute between the foundation, which the mayor chairs, and the Port Authority, which owns the site.

The mayor made it clear that he wants things kept as they are, with the foundation — not the PA — calling the shots.
