Mayor Bloomberg said he “parts company quite severely” with Rep. Peter King on the Long Island Republican’s plan to hold hearings on the “radicalization of the American Muslim community.”

“I don’t happen to agree with him that that’s necessary or appropriate,” Bloomberg said after appearing with King and other boosters of the Sept. 11 health-care bill.

King calls the hearings a tool in fighting al Qaeda recruitment efforts in the United States.
