Parents have a right to teacher-evaluation data and the “arrogance of some people” who opposed the release of the numbers is “astounding,” Mayor Bloomberg declared yesterday.

“Parents have a right to know every bit of information we can possibly collect about the teacher who’s in front of their kids,” the mayor said during a press conference in Coney Island announcing that applications were being taken at MCU Park this week for 450 summer jobs.

“This is about our kids’ lives. ”

A community-board member in the audience who was there for the jobs portion of the program applauded spontaneously.

Critics have questioned the validity of the data, which has large margins of error, and some have threatened to seek a law blocking future releases. Bloomberg said he would oppose such a law.
