The Doctor is finally in.
Benjamin Doctor had remained free, despite a whopping 134 misdemeanor convictions and four open cases.
But five was the charm for Manhattan’s legendary “Misdemeanor Man” — he’s finally been thrown in jail on misdemeanor crack-sale charges.
Looking disheveled at his arraignment last night, Doctor, 53, was held in lieu of $10,000 cash bail after allegedly selling a small quantity of crack cocaine to undercover cops in Morningside Heights at 5 a.m. Tuesday.
“Mr. Doctor was featured exclusively in the New York Post chronicling his extensive criminal background,” said Assistant DA Meghan O’Neill.
The most recent bust resulted in his missing a court date for another misdemeanor drug charge.
But that was just one of the many upcoming court appearances in Doctor’s appointment book.
He’s due in court today on a disorderly-conduct charge.
And Monday will be quite busy — one appearance on a disorderly-conduct charge, and another on a count of aggressive panhandling.
Most of Doctor’s convictions have been for offenses so small — including criminal mischief and public lewdness — that his cases have often been resolved with his serving little time.
Doctor is one of the so-called “Dirty Dozens” — persistent misdemeanor offenders who account for 5 percent of the 25,000 low-level crimes committed each year in the city — being targeted by Mayor Bloomberg.
The mayor has been lobbying Albany for stiffer penalties for those who commit numerous misdemeanors.
